Most students at Kids Like Us have spent a lot of time in the Doctor’s office. This has created many to have what is dubbed as, “White Coat Syndrome”. This stems from the stress and fear associated from going to the Doctor. This station is set up just like a Doctor’s office, from the examiner table to the tools used, such as stethoscope and blood pressure machine. In this space, students can switch roles and pretend to be the doctor. They can perform routine tasks that they encounter in the doctor’s office to help them become more comfortable. Ultimately, this causes a big drop in the fear and anxiety they feel at the doctors the next time they have to go. This station has proven to change the outlook many students have on the doctor. Making for calmer, more effective doctor’s visits for them in real life.
